1955 – ~1957 – Mr. Rushke

~1957 – 1960s – Mr. Bernard (Bernie) Cook
Mr. Cook retired from the Navy with honors in 1957 and hung up his Navy uniform for a Boy Scout uniform. Since during his service he visited many countries, he thought it was important that the boys saw many different camps. During this era, the Scouts might have aged out at 18, but not many actually stopped participating beyond their 18th birthday. 

~ 1970s – 1984 –

1984 – 2002 – Mr. John Yoder
Mr. Yoder was the Scoutmaster for 18 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and dedicated decades to the Boy Scouts of America (now Scouting America). Under his leadership, numerous Scouts advanced through the ranks. For his immense service, he received the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, the Wood Badge, and the National President’s Scoutmaster Award of Merit. Mr. Yoder was also a Vigil Honor member of Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Lodge 40, Order of the Arrow.
Sadly, Mr. Yoder passed away in April 2022.

2002-2022 – Mr. Dale Message
Mr. Message was the Scoutmaster for an impressive two decades. During his tenure, a massive group of 53 Scouts earned Scouting America’s highest rank. The Troop also continued its tradition of high adventure and youth-based leadership. Mr. Message has been given many awards and accolades, from “Scoutmaster Emeritus” status on the unit committee to being the subject of his own lore.
Mr. Message is a proud United States Air Force veteran, and even served as Scoutmaster for an on-base unit during his service! Mr. Message is a Vigil Honor member of Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Lodge 40, Order of the Arrow.

2022 – current – Mr. Allan Short
Mr. Short has big shoes to fill, following two incredible leaders in Mr. Message and Mr. Yoder. Mr. Short especially likes canoeing and feels that any time spent in quiet, small personal watercraft is time well spent. Since joining the Troop as an Assistant Scoutmaster in 2013, Mr. Short had an excellent opportunity to observe the Troop in action and to learn from Mr. Message. In the years since, he has led the Troop on multiple Boundary Waters trips, Northern Tier (Summer & Winter!) expeditions, been to Philmont, and hopes to finish off his Grand Slam of High Adventure with a trip to the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia some day.
Mr. Short is a Vigil Honor member of Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Lodge 40, Order of the Arrow.
